The McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he does not feel like he has had a lot of time with the new car for the upcoming season. McLaren recently unveiled the MP4-28 as their competitor for the new season. Button only recently returned to pre-season testing, and he has been doing just over 70 laps in the last few days. His teammate Sergio Perez was involved in the testing of the car over the first few days of pre-season. Button is extremely concerned that he does not have enough time to spend with the car, as he has made just over 70 laps.
The Englishman was hoping to make up for the lost ground on the final day of testing, but rain has been predicted on this final day. Due to the cold climates experienced by the teams in Barcelona as part of the pre-season, rain will certainly hamper the opportunities to improve the car even more. Button has said that he feels that he has not had good enough time in the car, which is also the opinion of his teammate Perez as well. Aerodynamic has been pointed out as an important area that the team are focusing. The time-consuming nature has left little to do with other areas of the car.
“It’s going to be wet tomorrow so it’s tricky. I don’t feel like I’ve had enough laps in the car and I think it’s the same for Checo [Perez] as well. We’re doing a lot of work to really understand the car in terms of the aerodynamics. We were doing a lot of rake work in the morning and it always takes a little bit longer than you expect. You lose a lot of time doing that. It’s not been perfect,” said Button after the fourth day of testing.
