VETTEL INCREASES LEAD

Sebastian Vettel managed to increase his advantage with Fernando Alonso to 50 points after the Italian Grand Prix. There are only seven races remaining in the season and Alonso came into the Italian Grand Prix with the hope of winning this home race for his team.

Vettel, though, was once again a dominant force as he managed to win his second consecutive race. He had won at the Belgian Grand Prix only a few weeks ago. As a result of this success, he now has a healthy advantage along with an extremely fast car.

After the race, Fernando Alonso said that he got the best out of the F138, but it was simply not enough to overtake Vettel. The Spaniard finished 10 seconds behind the current world Champion and he was less pleased in the post race press conference.

Alonso acknowledges that it is now going to be extremely difficult to win the title despite several points still being on offer, with the online betting sites reckoning it is a foregone conclusion.

One of the best ways to close the gap significantly is for Vettel to not finish a race, but the possibility of it appears to be extremely low because the Red bull has been one of the reliable cars on the grid.

Vettel was clearly the best driver over the weekend in all aspects.

“I think we need to be realistic about the Championship now there’s a very big gap. We don’t have enough races and probably we don’t have the speed right now to win some consecutive races and hope to reduce the gap just by pace. We need to be lucky and we need to have some DNFs from Sebastian or something to win the Championship. I think this weekend we took the maximum from the car,” said the 32-year-old after the Italian Grand Prix in which he came second.
